HELEN WHEELER, E.R. HUGHES ARE MARRIED HERE
Miss Helen Elizabeth Wheeler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wheeler of Stephentown, was married Saturday to Elliot R. Hughes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Hughes of Boonville, NY. The ceremony took place at the home of the brides parents with Rev. Oscar Stetson officiating.
Music was provided by Miss Helen Manns, cousin of the bride.
The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Max Merrill of Canton, NY. A reception at the home followed after which the couple left on a short wedding trip. Upon their return, they will ive in New Hartford, NY, where Mr. Hughes is principal of the elementary school. Before her marriage, Ms. Hughes taught in Canton. - October 15, 1947
Miss Dorothy E. Chittenden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claud H. Chittenden of Stephentown Center and Corp. Casimir J. Kanopka, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kanopka of Milford, Mass., were united in marriage Friday evening at 6 p.m. at the home of the bride. Rev. Oscar A. Arnold performed the ceremony.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ellsworth of Williamstown were the attendants. The bride wore a soldier brown suit with a corsage of pink roses.
a receiption followed for the immediate families after which the couple left on a wedding tip to Milford.
The brideis employed in Hancock, Mass., and Corporal Kanopka, who has spent the past three years in Panama, is now stationed in Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. William E. Palmer of Stephentown announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Marion C., to Seaman Allen E. Sicley, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sicley of Berlin, NY.
Miss Palmer is a graduate of Berlin Central School and attended New York State College for Teachers at Albany, NY.
Seaman Sicley, a graduate of Berlin Central School, has been serving in the navy for a year and is now stationed on the aircraft carrier, USS Leyte.

Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Bateman and son Gary, her mother, Mrs. James O. Bartholomew of Redlands, Cal., Mrs. Walter Sykes and Mrs. Fuller Hewitt, motored to New York to attend the wedding. They remained overnight at Garden City, LI and returned home Sunday. - August 23, 1950

The caption under this picture is incorrect according to the newspaper article. The names of the bride and groom seem to be wrong, but the photo is right. (Janet Atwater wrote to say that the bride and groom were Bob and Norma Rose Pease, standing between Bob's parents and Norma's father. Taken at Janet's aunt and uncle's house.

Miss Norma Marjorie Rose, daughter of Henry A. Rose, was married to Robert Walker Pease, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey N. Pease, yesterday. The couple were married by Rev. Oscar F. Stetson in the First Presbyterian Church, Garfield.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. Miss Madge Aldrich of Berlin, NY was the maid of honor and Woolson Brown of Hancock, Mass., was best man. Bridesmaids were Miss Dorothy Jean Rose, sister of the bride and Mildred Anne Pease, a cousin of the bridegroom. Floyd Brown, brother of the bride and Andrew Pease, a cousin of the bridegroom were ushers.
Following the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin H. Atwater.
The bride is a graduate of Berlin Central High School, and the Bishop Memorial Training School for Nurses at the House of Mercy, Pittsfield.
Mr. Pease, a veteran, is a graduate of Lebanon Central High School and is attending Cornell University in Ithaca. - June 11, 1947

Miss Elizabeth Ann Atwater, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Atwater, Sr., of Stephentown became the bride of Ralph Chittenden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Chittenden of New Lebanon, NY at the First Presbyterian Church, Garfield, NY, Monday. Rev. Howard Faulkner of Philadelphia, Pa., brother in law of the bridegroom, officiated at the double ring ceremony.
Miss Ruth Yale was organist. She accompanied the vocal soloist, Miss Joann Reynolds, of New lebanon, who sang, "I Love You Truly," and "Always."
Stanley Chittenden was best man for his brother and Calvin B. Atwater, brother of the bride, and Charles Brown, brother in law of the bridegroom, were ushers.
Escorted by her brother, John H. Atwater, Jr., the bride wore a gown of white slipper satin with appliqued chiffon overdress and a long train. Her net fingertip veil was held in place by a tiara of white rosebuds. She carried an arm bouquet of white roses and white glaioli with white satin streamers.
Miss Virginia Wilt of Malden Bridge was maid of honor.
A reception for over 100 relatives and friends followed on the lawn of the home of the bride. Mrs. John H. Atwater, Sr., mother of the bride received.
Upon their return from a wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Chittenden will reside in New Lebanon.

CYNTHIA TYDE BECOMES BRIDE OF ANDREW PEASE
Miss Cynthia Ann Tyde, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Richard W. Tyde and andrew Dwight Pease, son of Arthur L. Pease and the late Helen Whitman Pease, were married yesterday afternoon at 2 at the Federated Church in Garfield. Rev. Arthur Nannay performed the ceremony in a setting of white roses, carnations, pompoms, palms and candelabras. Miss Caroline Lewis of Schenectady was soloist.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride and had Mrs. Lloyd W. Sandstrom, sister of the bridegroom, as matron of honor. Miss Gail Heller of Malden Bridge and Miss Edith Anne Liscinsky of Lebanon Springs were bridesmaids. Lloyd W. Sandstrom, brother in law of the bridegroom, was best man and ushers were Richard S. Tyde, brother of the bride and Richard L. Pease of Canton, the bridegroom's brother.
After December 15, they will be at home at the Pease homestead on the Stephentown-Lebanon Springs road.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Cummings of Averill Park announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Esther Cummings to Pfc. Ralph Geerholt, son of Mr. and Mrs.Fred Geerholt of Stephentown. Miss Cummings is a senior at Averill Park Central High School and Private Geerholt, prior to entering the service, was in the General Electric Co. He is now stationed at Camp Rucker, Ala. No date has been set for the wedding. - January 6, 1944.
Miss Pease, a graduate of New Lebanon Central School and Bishop Memorial Training School for Nurses, is on the staff of the Pittsfield General Hospital. Mr. Sandstrom is also a graduate of New Lebanon Central School and served in the Navy 14 months. He is employed in the contracting business with his father.
Miss Shirley Anne Sweener was guest of honor at a bridal shower given by several friends Wednesday at the Taconic Valley Grange Hall, Stephentown. Fifty-three persons attended. Miss Sweener will be married to John Esposito, Jr. October 4 at Zion's Lutheran Church, Pittsfield, Mass. - September 17, 1958
Miss Ella M. Sweener, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson L. Sweener of Stephentown Center, was married to Howard George Amidon, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Amidon of Cherry Plain, November 18, at Lebanon Springs with Rev. Oscar Arnold officiating.
The bride wore a navy blue two-piece dress with sweetheart neck line, long pointed sleeves, a gray coat and a hat to match. She wore a corsage of white roses.
Miss Emma Yerson, the maid of honor, wore a black dress with red accessories, a black coat and hat and a corsage of red roses.
The bride's mother wore a gray silk print dress and a corsage of red roses, while the bridegroom's mother wore brown crepe with a corsage of white roses.
the reception followed at the home of the bride's parents. After a wedding trip the couple will make their home with the bridegroom's parents.
The bride attended Berlin Central High School and is employed by the Reis Mill in Berlin. Mr. Amidon also attended Berlin Central School and is employed by Arnold Brogue in Petersburg. - December 1, 1948
(This is my Aunt Ella, my mother's sister. Uncle Howard passed away about 1996, having been married for 48 years. They lived their entire married lives in the same house that Uncle Howard was born in, and that they moved into following their wedding trip. Aunt Ella sold the house a couple of years after Uncle Howard's death, and now lives in Bennington, VT., where she is a nanny to three small children. She has two grown sons and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.)
Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hall of East Nassau today announced the engagement of their foster daughter Theresa Irene Corellis to Lawrence U. Sweener, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ulysses Sweener of Stephentown.
Miss Corellis will be a member of next week's graduating class at New Lebanon Central School and plans to attend a comptometer school in Albany.
Mr. Sweener is presently engaged in construction work with his father. - June 11, 1957

Miss Wheeler is an alumna of New Lebanon Central School. She was graduated from the University of Iowa School of Nursing, with a B.S. degree in 1946. she is at present taking courses toward her master's degree at Syracuse University.
Mr. Stone is a senior in the College of Engineering at Syracuse University. He spent three years in the Army Medical Corps during World War II.
The wedding will be held October 14, at the home of the bride-elect in Stephentown. - August 27, 1950
Miss Barnes, a 1947 graduate of New Lebanon Central School, is attending the Austin School of Beauty Culture, Albany, from which she will graduate in April. Mr. Haley is a graduate of Averill Park High School and the Agricultural Institute, Cobleskill. He is a former employee of the New York Power & Light Corporation and was employed for a time at the Thomas Garage, Lebanon Springs. He now is in the U.S. Army, stationed at Camp Pickett, Va. - February 23, 1949

An announcement was made today of the marriage of Mrs. Rachel Nichols of this town and George Williams of Troy. The ceremony was performed Sunday afternoon by Rev. Homer B. Silvernail at his residence in Watervliet. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Wheeler of Troy were attendents. - July 23, 1952
Mr. and Mrs. William H. Dodd of New Scotland Road, Slingerlands, N.Y. observed their 50th wedding anniversary Monday. Their three children, William Dodd, Mrs. Sarah Murphy, and Miss Rena Dodd, entertained in their homor woth a family party at the Willow Tea Room in Troy, N.Y.
The guests included Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Dodd of Stephentown, Dr. and Mrs. I. Spencer Dodd of Pittsfield, Mass., Mr. and Mrs. John Dodd of Bridgeport, Conn., and Mrs. Mary Dodd Craig of Brookline, Mass.
Mr. and Mrs. Dodd formerly lived in Stephentown. He was the pastor of the Stephentown Presbyterian Church where his father, the late Rev. Samuel Dodd had previously preached.
Since leaving town, Mr. Dodd has returned to the pulpit as guest speaker on many occasions. Both Mr. and Mrs. Dodd have been frequent visitors here where they have many friends. - September 17, 1947

Inez Thompson To Wed John Poor in Fall
East Pownal, VT - Mr. and Mrs. Elisha Hayes have announced the engagement of her daughter, Inez Louise Thompson, to John Clinton Poore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Poore of South Shaftsbury.
The wedding will take place in the late fall. - August 9, 1955

Best man was Walter Peterson of Stephentown, brother of the groom.
After the reception, the couple left on a wedding trip. They will live in Stephentown when they return August 2.
The bride, a telephone operator, graduated in 1951 from New Lebanon Central School.
Mr. Peterson, who is a farmer, is a 1940 graduate of New Lebanon Central School. -

The cremony was performed by Rev. Francis J. Schantzlein, pastor.

Private First Class Southard, who is stationed at the Army Air Force Techincal Training Center at Sioux Falls, S.D. was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal prior to his enlistment. Harrison of 61 South Onota Street, Pittsfield, Mass. Rev. Kenneth H. Wait performed the ceremony at the Presbyterian Church, which was decorated with gladioli and palms. Mrs. Ruth Lawless played the organ and Nicolas Soldato sang.
When the couple return September 10 from a trip to Niagra Falls, Detroit, Chicago and Canada, they will make their home at 61 South Onota Street, Pittsfield.
